Jealousy is often bandied about as a sin but The Bible states that God called Himself a jealous God:
and as we are made:Exodus 20:5
...'for I the Lord your God, am a jealous God,'...(NIV)
we too can be jealous and I don't see how it can be a sin to be just like the Father. This ties in with my observations reported elsewhere on this page that there is no such thing as sin if the Lord is omnipotent. God was being very clever at Mount Sinai when the commandments were given/received and it seems to me that he was trying to interest the Gentiles and heathen in His commandments in such a way as to convert them at a later date. He goes on to say that He is responsible for:Genesis 1:27
...'in the image of God'...(NIV)
but if you accept God's omnipotence then this obsevation is null and void and must have been stated as food for thought for the unconverted and unenlightened. In other words fathers cannot actually sin either and God therefore doesn't punish children as you might have first imagined. It must be the devil doing the punishing!!Exodus 20:5
...'punishing the children for the sin of the fathers'...(NIV)

Christening, confirmation and conversion. Are these three events about one and the same thing? Not necessarily.

Why are we here? This question is an old favourite of humankind which I remember from school and one which came up again the other day on the highly commendable Discovery Channel on television. I wasn't too keen on this nutmeg at school because I hadn't read the Bible and was too busy studying to apply my mind to it for long. Nowadays things are different and I think I am in a position to answer.
The human race was created by God in His infinite wisdom from dust...
Genesis 2:7
'the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground...'(NIV)
This ground was either:-
or:
It doesn't really matter which way - the important thing is life began on Earth and the rules of chemistry as laid down by the good Lord control the way atoms combine and recombine and therefore how evolution progresses.
A few million years ago primitive hominids began to wear clothes probably as a way to combat cold. It was the ability to put up with the weight of early clothing which allowed hominids to evolve separately from the chimpanzees and monkeys who got left behind, so to speak, in the effort to colonize the more northern and southern areas on the Earth. Simple demand for food and warmth was the driving force enabling hominids to colonize the planet! If primitive hominids could combat the cold of the planet Earth using clothes then surely more advanced hominids, i.e. Homo sapiens, with the benefit of the religion of the Lord and a space suit, could combat the cold of space!
So, the next time anyone asks you why we are here you know what to answer. Simply, to colonize Mars and beyond as a result of God devising the Laws of the Universe. Surely there must be other life forms on other planets at varying stages of evolution striving to do the same thing as a result of these same laws working on other chemicals in other solar systems.

I have been thinking about the question of authority, obedience and my request for a third Testament to help modern society in their religious endeavours. I wonder if the early Jews had dictionaries as we have today. Luckily for us they are now commonly available in many different forms and serve their purpose well. It suddenly occurred to me that if you keep to the strict definition of words in your thinking, speaking and writing then some troubles of ours may disappear.
A case in point is the question that we are in some way naughty and disobedient. But if you consider that God BY DEFINITION is THE authority and BY DEFINITION ALL authority gets served then God must get His way ALL the time and we cannot therefore be 'miserable sinners'. This is the reason the definition and concept of God as an omnipotent authority was invented in the first place by mankind.

This is a true story.
There was a show at The Pool in the Park today, where I usually swim, called 'Aquamass Out of the Deep' which was basically Psalm 130 - De Profundis performed in and around the water! The flyer states
'world premiere of a unique work'.Participating were singers, dancers, musicians and frogmen, with amongst other instruments, steel pans and percussion.
Exodus 4:11
'The Lord said to him, 'Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I the Lord?' (NIV).Proverbs 19:21
'Many are the plans of a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.' (NIV).Jeremiah 3:17
....'and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honour the name of the Lord. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts.' (NIV).
Could I be right in thinking evil spirits are carbonic acid, or similar, accumulating in the body? What chance did the early Jews have of explaining their feelings without the benefit of modern biochemical knowledge?
We should be grateful that the Holy Spirit allowed us to do the research into the way our bodies work.

Perhaps you might like to consider this:
Saint Luke 3:23
'Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when He began His ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph,......' (NIV)
(my italics)
If what I state below is true that David isn't Christ's father then this quotation may be additional evidence. It was thought that Jesus was the son of Joseph but He actually wasn't.

Maybe you would like to consider this quotation from The Bible:
Saint Matthew 22:41-45
'While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 'What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is He?''The son of David,' they replied.
He said to them, 'How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him 'Lord'? For he says,
'The Lord said to my Lord:If then David calls him 'Lord', how can He be his son?' No-one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no-one dared to ask Him any more questions.' (NIV)
'Sit at my right hand
until I put your enemies
under your feet.'
This passage obviously brings into question, as Jesus himself wished, His lineage. David wasn't Christ's father because He was born of the Holy Spirit. Born of the Holy Spirit in the way God wished the Holy Spirit to manifest itself. In other words, Jesus' father may have been a lover of Mary's. I suggest a Roman soldier - the love between them was the manifestation of the Holy Spirit that produced the child. A love-child called Jesus after his Roman soldier father.
I have been considering one of the main drawbacks to Christianity, as far as I'm concerned, and that is the death of Jesus the person, on the cross. What a sad ending to His life it was: what an end to a fascinating story!
So I decided the way to being a good Christian was to extend the life of Jesus as much as I could to keep the story going so to speak. That way I could become like a gospel writer myself, and so give Him life after death just as He prophesied would happen! So here goes, a few verses at a time to give you something to think about on how to extend the life of Jesus and help him to live after his crucifixion.
Philemon :1
'Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother,To Philemon our dear friend and fellow worker,.....' (NIV)
To me 'prisoner' seems a strange word to use and it got me to thinking. Maybe the gospel writer was trying to tell us that Christ was now more physically powerful than a normal person; in other words Jesus was now the captor, the soldier, the centurion. Now Jesus was on the other 'side'. Instead of being the victim of the nail and spear, God through his mighty hand had put His son in the Roman army! If you can't beat them, join them! Centurion Jesus at your service Governor Pilate sir. He did n't even need to change His name. Jesus, seems Roman to me. Maybe.
